Cavite celebrates the elderly sector

To mark the elderly week celebration in Cavite, the Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer (OPSWDO) facilitated the Recognition of Senior Citizens Program Implementers on November 17, 2023 at SM City Trece Martires. Gracing the event with their presence, Mr. Alvin S. Mojica, Provincial Administrator for Community Affairs, Ms. Felipa G. Servañez, OPSWDO head, and Mr. Ciriaco S. Angeles, Regional/Provincial Federation of Senior Citizen President, warmly welcomed the elderly sector, acknowledging the contributions, dedication and efforts of the committed individuals working for the betterment of senior citizens. More so, PA Mojica echoed that the provincial government has always been at the forefront, giving its utmost help for the sector. Thereafter, Ms. Beverly Alvaran, representative of Board Member Romel Enriquez, further emphasized the support of BM Enriquez and the Provincial Government of Cavite in improving the quality of life of the elders.
In closing, Ms. Precyl Ramos, Social Welfare Officer of the OPSWDO, conveyed their appreciation to all local government units that prioritize initiatives for the elderly, particularly in the areas of Health and Nutrition, Community Participation Activities, and Social Services. “Expect the OPSWDO to continue and improve the services for senior citizens in the years to come”, Ms. Ramos said. During the program, the 2023 accomplishments were presented. Additionally, Federation President of Senior Citizens in all Cavite LGUs showcased their dancing skills in an intermission number, proving that age shouldn’t be a hindrance to being active. Highlight of the event was the recognition of program implementers – the Provincial Federation of Senior Citizens Association of Cavite Inc., Provincial Council for the Elderly, and all Local Government Units. After the program, the Office of the Provincial Health Officer offered free Pneumococcal Vaccine for the Senior Citizens to help protect them against diseases and infections. (CPIO)
