The Provincial Government of Cavite, through the Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer (OPSWDO), in partnership with the Provincial Council for the Elderly, successfully held the Provincial Elderly Week Celebration 2025 on September 30, 2025, at the Upper Ground Floor of the New Provincial Government Center, Trece Martires City.
With the theme centered on recognizing and empowering senior citizens, the event gathered nearly 300 participants, composed of Officers and Members of the Provincial Federation and Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA), the Military Retirees Association, and various focal persons from different Cavite localities.
The program aimed to highlight successful and innovative programs of the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) and local government units (LGUs) that uphold the rights, welfare, and active participation of senior citizens.
One of the highlights of the celebration was the Awarding of Plaques for Best LGU Program Implementers for Senior Citizens, where the municipalities of Kawit, Maragondon, General Emilio Aguinaldo, and General Mariano Alvarez (GMA), along with the cities of Imus, Carmona, Bacoor, Trece Martires, and General Trias, were recognized for their outstanding initiatives benefiting the elderly sector.
The program also featured presentations from partner agencies and resource speakers. Ms. Lynn Andrea P. Escobar of the OPSWDO discussed the various programs and services available for CaviteΓ±o elderlies, while Ms. Levita S. Aderez, Focal Person of the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC), provided updates on national programs and services for Filipino senior citizens. Meanwhile, Ms. Edelyn V. Rodil, Social Insurance Officer II, shared insights on PhilHealth Yakap, highlighting program updates and service enhancements designed to further support the needs of the elderly sector. To further promote the health and well-being of senior citizens, a Health Services Caravan was conducted, offering free medical consultations, maintenance medicines, vitamins, and pneumococcal vaccines to participants.
The Provincial Elderly Week Celebration reaffirmed the Provincial Government of Caviteβs commitment to honoring and supporting the elderly sector by promoting inclusive programs, recognizing exemplary initiatives, and ensuring their continued well-being and active participation in community development.
