Camp BGen Vicente P Lim- PRO CALABARZON Regional Director PBGen Paul Kenneth T Lucas urges strong measures to protect the welfare and rights of all women of CALABARZON through intensified police operation, information operation and women empowerment amidst 2024 Women’s Month Celebration.
PBGen Lucas emphasized that there is a need to increase operations to prevent the increasing number of women who are raped, abused and victims of various types of crime.
Earlier, PRO 4A launched an awareness program that aims to provide protection and knowledge to every citizen in the community to fight and prevent the occurrence of rape. Dubbed as PROJECT L.U.K.A.S. or Labanan, Umaksyon, Kausapin ang buong Pamilya, Abusadong Rapist ay Sama-samang Pigilan, the project was cascaded to the Pulis Sa Barangay (PSB) who shall be responsible in the public awareness campaign of the PNP on incidents involving rape.
Along with information operations and awareness campaigns, the Police Regional Office 4A is also implementing arrest warrants for those involved in crimes of rape and other crimes against women, stepping up its efforts to rescue women and children involved in violence and abusive incidents.
PRO 4A has intensified its operations such as serving of Warrant of Arrest. From October 2, 2023 to March 3, 2024, PRO4A was able to arrest 268 individuals involved in rape, 149 for the crime of Acts of Lasciviousness, 16 involved in violation of RA 9262 or the VAWC Law while 82 individuals were arrested for violation of RA 7610 or the Anti-Child Abuse Law, all with warrants of arrest.
PBGen Paul Kenneth T Lucas, the Regional Director of PRO CALABARZON underscores the need to reinforce the existing police interventions and programs to fight the increasing numbers of rape incidents and other crimes involving women and children. He also urges the public and other advocacy groups to join the rally against violence and abuse for women.
Meanwhile, activities are lined up in PRO 4A to empower and educate women accross all walks of life in time for this year’s celebration of the National Women’s Month with the theme “Lipunang Patas sa Bagong Pilipinas, Kakayahan ng Kababaihan Patunayan”.
(ROSELLE AQUINO)
