Senior Fire Officer-1 Manolito Ybañez, Jr. (right), attended the prestigious Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) Workshop on Chemical Safety and Security in Laboratories held in Milan, Italy on May 9-11, 2023. Ybañez is a Forensic Chemist assigned at the Bureau of Fire Protection – National Headquarters Fire Laboratory Service. Around eighteen chemists representing their respective countries participated in the global event. The workshop promotes chemical safety and security by providing tools and knowledge to mitigate the risks arising from chemical accidents and potential misuse of toxic chemicals, including the threat of terrorism in the laboratory setting.
