BFP CHEMICAL SECURITY TRAINING – The

The United States Department of Chemical Security Program, in collaboration with Louisiana State University, conducts a training program called “WMD Identification and Sampling in a Hazardous Environment” for the Bureau of Fire Protection in Manila on June 22, 2024. The purpose of the training is to enhance the BFP Special Rescue Force ability to respond safely and effectively to incidents involving Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) devices, while ensuring the integrity and preservation of collected evidence for investigation purposes. Experts from Louisiana State University’s National Centre of Biomedical Research and Training Academy of Counter-Terrorist Education (LSU/NCBRT/ACE) facilitated the exercise that taught BFP firemen with the necessary skills and knowledge on proper collection, packing, and documentation techniques during public safety sampling operations within a WMD environment. Key topics covered in the training are: overview of Public Safety CBRNE (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive) response; personal protective equipment; CBRNE field screening; practical skills and exercises; sampling scenarios; and, decontamination procedures.
